16-Year-Old Charged in Connection to Robbery at Grimsby Jewelry Store
Toronto teen faces charges after daylight jewellery store robbery in Grimsby leaves community shaken

A 16-year-old boy from Toronto is facing multiple charges after police allege he was involved in a dramatic daylight robbery at a jewellery store in Grimsby earlier this year.
According to authorities, the incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on January 18 at Harmony Jewellers on Main Street West. Investigators say a group of six individuals arrived at the store, where they used small sledgehammers to smash through the front door and then shattered display cases inside. The group reportedly made off with an unknown quantity of jewellery before escaping the scene in a waiting vehicle headed toward Mountain Street.
At the time of the robbery, the store was open and staff and customers were present. Fortunately, no one suffered physical injuries during the incident, though the brazen nature of the crime left the community rattled.
Days after the robbery, detectives located and recovered the vehicle believed to have been used in the getaway. The car was found abandoned in Hamilton, providing investigators with critical leads that eventually resulted in the arrest of the teenage suspect from Toronto.
The youth has now been charged with robbery, disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his identity will not be released.
Meanwhile, police continue to search for the remaining five suspects involved in the theft. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information relating to those responsible to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
