CGTN and UzA kick off Central Asia tour ahead of China-Central Asia Summit, signaling deepening regional cooperation

The partnership between CGTN and the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) marks a significant milestone in bolstering diplomatic and cultural ties ahead of the highly anticipated China-Central Asia Summit scheduled for mid-June. The "Central Asia Expedition" media tour, launched by the two organizations, aims to shed light on the fruitful collaboration emerging between China and Uzbekistan in various sectors.
A delegation of six journalists from China, accompanied by Utkir Alimov, deputy editor-in-chief of UzA's International Relations Department, embarked on an extensive journey across Uzbekistan. Traveling in new energy vehicles, the group focused not only on highlighting advancements in clean mobility but also on illustrating the growing spectrum of cooperation ranging from trade and infrastructure to culture and investment. Their tour included stops at key industrial sites and cultural landmarks, demonstrating the depth and breadth of bilateral engagement.
The joint coverage—set to be featured prominently on both CGTN and UzA platforms—spotlights major events, such as the China-Uzbekistan Local Cooperation Forum held in Samarkand. The media team also visited the BYD Uzbekistan Factory in Jizzakh, a symbol of robust industrial cooperation and a testament to the commitment to sustainable development and modernization. These reports are accompanied by features on Uzbekistan’s renowned tourist destinations, including Bukhara, Samarkand, and Tashkent, showcasing the country's diverse heritage and potential for tourism growth.
During their visit to the UzA headquarters in Tashkent, the CGTN team was welcomed by G'afforov Alovaddin Nasriyevich, Deputy General Director of UzA. He emphasized the critical role that media partnerships play in fostering stronger bonds between the people of China and Uzbekistan. Nasriyevich pointed out that as leading news agencies, both organizations act as key conduits for information exchange, helping to cultivate mutual respect and understanding between the nations.
The collaborative project stands as a reflection of both countries’ shared vision for the future—a future underpinned by openness, cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. With heightened attention on the upcoming summit, the media tour underscores the value of journalistic collaboration in paving the way for enduring bilateral relations and greater regional integration.
