China Condemns U.S. Visa Revocation for Chinese Students, Calls It Unjustified

The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation on Thursday regarding the United States' recent decision to revoke the visas of certain Chinese students. During a regular press conference, spokesperson Mao Ning was quick to denounce the move, characterizing it as both politically motivated and discriminatory toward Chinese nationals.

Mao Ning emphasized that the U.S. action undermines its longstanding reputation for openness and freedom. "Such political and discriminatory practice of the U.S. side has exposed the lie of the so-called freedom and openness that the U.S. has always boasted of, and will only further damage the U.S.'s own international image and national credibility," she stated, highlighting the potential repercussions on America's standing in the global community.

The spokesperson also accused the United States of using ideology and national security as a "pretext" for this recent policy move. According to Mao, this decision does not just impact the affected students, but also seriously harms legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and disrupts established channels of people-to-people and educational exchanges between China and the United States.

"We firmly oppose this, and have made serious representations to the U.S. side," Mao concluded, signaling that China intends to pursue diplomatic channels in response to the issue. The incident adds fresh tension to already strained relations between Beijing and Washington, particularly in areas concerning academic and cultural cooperation.
