China has formally expressed its support for the recent elevation of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan, welcoming the upgrade from chargé d’affaires to ambassadorial relations. Addressing the development in a daily press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized the positive implications of this diplomatic shift, stating that it marks a significant stride toward deeper bilateral engagement between Islamabad and Kabul.

According to Lin, China is prepared to play a constructive role in furthering the improvement and expansion of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The spokesperson highlighted that strengthened cooperation and increased mutual trust will serve as essential foundations for jointly maintaining peace and stability in the region. He noted that the move reflects both countries’ commitment to implementing the key outcomes from the informal trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting held in May, where China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan reaffirmed their intentions to promote regional dialogue and collaboration.

Lin also underscored China's willingness to work in partnership with both Pakistan and Afghanistan alongside other neighboring states to safeguard regional security and advance shared development goals. “We are committed to building a community with a shared future with neighboring countries,” he stated, reinforcing China’s broader vision for cooperative stability along its borders. Lin concluded by reiterating China’s readiness to continue supporting initiatives that foster diplomatic engagement and long-term peace in the region.
