Chinese Premier Li Qiang, speaking at a high-level symposium for Chinese enterprises operating in Indonesia, emphasized that China is fully prepared for external shocks and has developed robust strategies to face ongoing global economic uncertainties. Addressing corporate leaders on Sunday, Li highlighted the nation’s significant progress in economic recovery since the start of the year, noting particularly the remarkable resilience of China’s foreign trade against international headwinds.

The gathering brought together representatives from leading Chinese companies, including China Energy Investment Corporation, Huawei, SAIC Motor, New Hope Group, Tsingshan Holding Group, and TCL Technology Group. These enterprises have played an integral role in driving forward China’s overseas business interests across Southeast Asia, and specifically in Indonesia.

In his remarks, Premier Li acknowledged the increasingly challenging international economic and trade landscape. He pointed to the deepening fragmentation of global supply chains and the rise of trade barriers, issues which he said are impacting the economic development of all countries. “The international order is under severe strain, and these challenges require determined action and effective policy responses,” Li stated.

Li outlined a number of measures the Chinese government is taking to combat these challenges. He explained that China has intensified its counter-cyclical macro policy adjustments, deploying a combination of a more proactive fiscal policy and moderately loose monetary measures. These steps, he said, are designed to buffer the economy against external shocks while maintaining stability and growth.

Furthermore, Li announced that China is rolling out new initiatives to stabilize employment and expand domestic economic activity. “We are researching and preparing innovative policy tools, including some unconventional measures, to respond swiftly to changing conditions,” he said, underscoring the government’s readiness to act decisively as global circumstances evolve.

Expressing confidence in China’s economic prospects, Li assured business leaders that the country possesses both the capability and resolve to ensure sustained improvement in economic performance. He also emphasized that it is not easy for Chinese companies to operate overseas, but pledged continued support. “China will further strengthen economic and trade cooperation with more countries, providing a favorable environment and stronger policy backing for our enterprises abroad,” he affirmed.

Li also pointed to the positive contributions made by Chinese businesses in Indonesia, which have demonstrated strong growth momentum in recent years. Their activities have not only enhanced bilateral economic cooperation but also promoted greater people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Looking forward, Premier Li encouraged Chinese enterprises to continue striving for excellence, deepen their operations in Indonesia, and explore new markets across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He called on them to make full use of their competitive advantages to improve the quality and efficiency of development, thereby facilitating better access for Chinese products and services in global markets.

Li also urged Chinese companies to adhere strictly to social responsibility principles, maintain compliance in their operations, and actively integrate into local economies. He asked them to serve as “friendly ambassadors” to boost ties between China and other nations and to seek even greater achievements on the global stage.

Representatives from the attending companies echoed Li’s sentiments, stating that despite current uncertainties in the international economic and trade environment, Chinese enterprises remain committed to entrepreneurship, innovation, and active expansion in overseas markets. They expressed optimism about the evolving China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership, vowing to seize new opportunities in areas such as the green economy, connectivity, and industrial cooperation.

By continuing to invest, innovate, and collaborate, Chinese enterprises in Indonesia hope to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, contributing to the broader development goals set forth by both nations.
