During an official visit to Egypt from Tuesday to Wednesday, Zhai Jun, the special envoy of the Chinese government on the Middle East issue, held important meetings with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and other top officials. The talks come at a pivotal time for both nations, as efforts intensify to bolster bilateral relations and address regional challenges.

Zhai Jun commended the remarkable progress in ties between China and Egypt in recent years, describing their relationship as a model of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual benefit among developing countries. He emphasized China's readiness to deepen collaboration with Egypt, particularly in implementing the strategic consensus achieved by the two heads of state. Zhai stated that China would firmly support Egypt in key areas and promote practical cooperation spanning a wide range of sectors.

The Chinese envoy also underscored the significance of Egypt's role on the international and regional stage. He expressed Beijing’s willingness to strengthen channels of communication and coordination with Cairo, aiming to jointly defend the principles of fairness and justice in the global arena. Egyptian officials responded positively, highlighting the substantial progress witnessed in bilateral relations and reiterating their unwavering support for China in safeguarding its core interests. Furthermore, the Egyptian side voiced eagerness to enhance high-level exchanges, pursue deeper cooperation in trade and investment, and expand collaboration in regional and international affairs.

In discussions on pressing regional issues, Egyptian leaders expressed deep appreciation for China’s consistent position on critical matters such as the Palestinian question. They conveyed their willingness to work closely with China to uphold multilateralism and contribute to easing tensions both regionally and globally.

Both sides exchanged views on a range of hotspot issues, including the ongoing Gaza conflict, developments in Syria and Sudan, and security concerns in the Red Sea region. The meetings underscored the shared commitment of China and Egypt to pursuing diplomatic solutions and promoting stability across the Middle East.
