Chinese Special Envoy for Middle East Performs Visit to Egypt to Promote Diplomatic Engagement
China and Egypt commit to deepening practical cooperation following summit consensus.


Zhai Jun, serving as the special envoy of the Chinese government on Middle East affairs, conducted an official visit to Egypt from Tuesday through Wednesday. During his stay, Zhai met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and a number of prominent senior officials, engaging in discussions aimed at strengthening the enduring partnership between China and Egypt.
In the course of the meetings, Zhai praised the remarkable progress seen in bilateral relations in recent years. According to him, the bond between China and Egypt has grown into a "model of solidarity, cooperation and mutual benefit" not only for the two countries but also as an example for collaboration among developing nations. Zhai emphasized China's readiness to partner closely with Egypt to implement agreements made by the leaders of both countries and to further solidify their practical cooperation in a wide array of sectors.
China’s commitment to Egypt’s pivotal role in the region and internationally was a central theme of the talks. Zhai stated that China values Egypt’s efforts in international and regional forums, expressing the country’s willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with Cairo. The envoy reiterated China’s steadfast support for Egypt, particularly in upholding fairness and justice on the world stage.
On the Egyptian side, officials echoed the positive assessment of bilateral relations, pointing to significant achievements across multiple domains. Egypt reaffirmed its unwavering support for China’s core interests and its continued adherence to the one-China principle. Egyptian leaders emphasized their determination to further high-level exchanges, expand trade and investment ties, and enhance cooperation in international and regional arenas.
The conversations also touched upon current hotspot issues, notably the ongoing situation in Palestine. Egypt expressed deep appreciation for China’s long-standing diplomatic approach to key Middle East conflicts and voiced a strong desire to collaborate with Beijing in advancing multilateralism and promoting peace and stability both regionally and globally.
Additionally, the two sides held an in-depth exchange of views on a range of pressing regional topics, including the escalating Gaza conflict, developments in Syria and Sudan, and the security situation in the Red Sea. Both parties affirmed their shared commitment to working together in pursuit of solutions to these complex challenges, underscoring the strategic importance of China-Egypt cooperation amid shifting dynamics in the Middle East.
