Discover the Spectacular Waterfalls: From Iguazu's Roar to Huangguoshu's Majesty
China extends visa-free trial for South American nationals, boosting tourism from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay in 2025-2026.

China has announced a significant expansion of its visa-free policy, granting nationals from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay greater freedom to discover the country’s vast landscapes and cultural treasures. The policy, set to run on a trial basis from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026, marks a new chapter in travel ties between China and South America.
This initiative is expected to make it easier for South American tourists to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of China, enhancing people-to-people exchanges. The new policy comes at a time when both China and South America are being increasingly recognized for their breathtaking natural wonders—and for many travelers, iconic waterfalls are at the top of the must-see list.
When discussions turn to spectacular waterfalls, Iguazu Falls often takes center stage. Situated on the border between Brazil and Argentina, this world-famous landmark is renowned for its awe-inspiring scale. Stretching nearly three kilometers, Iguazu Falls is composed of 275 separate cascades, each contributing to a deafening roar and a persistent cloud of mist that envelops the area. Among the most celebrated features of Iguazu is the “Devil’s Throat,” a dramatic U-shaped chasm with an 80-meter drop. Visitors on the viewing platform find themselves completely surrounded by the relentless power and beauty of water, sound, and spray—a sensory spectacle that leaves a deep impression.
Thousands of miles away, China is home to its own magnificent waterfall—Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province. As one of Asia’s largest waterfalls and an icon of the Chinese landscape, Huangguoshu boasts a principal drop measuring 77.8 meters in height and 101 meters in width. The cascade produces a thunderous boom that carries over great distances, drawing visitors eager to witness its majesty firsthand.
The surrounding scenery at Huangguoshu is equally impressive. Lush green hills and meandering rivers, typical of the region’s karst formations, create a striking setting for the falls. The spectacle is at its most powerful in the summer and autumn months, when increased rainfall swells the river and amplifies the falls’ dramatic flow. For international tourists arriving under China’s new visa-free policy, Huangguoshu Waterfall promises a memorable encounter with nature’s grandeur.
As travel barriers are lowered, more South American visitors will have the opportunity to compare the legendary Iguazu Falls with the stunning Huangguoshu Waterfall, deepening mutual appreciation for the natural wonders that unite distant continents.
