FBI Deputy Director Confirms Jeffrey Epstein's Death Was a Suicide Based on Agency Files

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino stated Thursday that, after an extensive review, there is no indication in the official file suggesting Jeffrey Epstein died by any means other than suicide. Addressing ongoing speculation surrounding Epstein’s 2019 death, Bongino provided an update on the investigation during an interview with Sean Hannity, underscoring the importance of factual evidence over persistent conspiracy theories.

“The evidence we have in our files clearly indicates that it was, in fact, a suicide,” Bongino emphasized. He acknowledged the public’s intense interest in the case but urged restraint regarding unsubstantiated claims. Bongino referenced prison surveillance footage, explaining, “We do have video. It’s not the greatest video in the world. I don’t want to set expectations on fire. However, the video does show in that specific block, that he goes in, made a phone call; you’ll see 12 hours of guards going in basically check on him, come back. You’ll see nobody really comes out of that bay in that area than him. There’s no one in there.”

According to Bongino, the FBI’s internal review found no evidence of foul play or outside involvement in Epstein’s death at the federal detention facility where he was awaiting trial on charges related to sex trafficking. “There’s nothing there in the file at all that indicates anything other than in fact a suicide,” he concluded, reiterating the agency’s official position.

The case of Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier accused of sexually abusing minors, has remained the subject of public scrutiny and rampant speculation since his death. Despite numerous conspiracy theories suggesting murder or cover-up, federal investigators remain firm in their findings, which point conclusively toward suicide. The renewed statement from the FBI leadership aims to quell rumors and remind the public of the weight of verified investigative results.
