A Honduran national is facing federal charges after a dramatic incident at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida. According to the Department of Justice, Orly Moises Garcia Hernandez, 34, was taken into custody after allegedly crashing a vehicle into a security barricade outside the base and then illegally entering military premises while attempting to escape law enforcement officers.
The events unfolded on May 25, when Garcia Hernandez allegedly rammed into a checkpoint barricade at the entrance to the Navy facility. After the collision, he reportedly fled on foot onto the base, prompting a rapid response from military police units stationed at the site. Officers pursued Garcia Hernandez and ultimately apprehended him at gunpoint, bringing the high-stakes pursuit to an end without further incident.
Garcia Hernandez now faces serious federal charges, including illegally entering a military installation and resisting or impeding arrest by a federal officer. If convicted, he could receive a prison sentence of up to 18 months, in addition to possible deportation proceedings. Jail records indicate that Garcia Hernandez is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond as he awaits legal proceedings.
