Legoland Shanghai Announces Trial Runs and Preview Events Ahead of Grand Opening
Legoland Shanghai Resort ready for internal testing ahead of opening, aiming to become the world's largest Legoland park.

The much-anticipated Legoland Shanghai Resort has reached a significant milestone as it completes its project handover and readies for official trial operations. Beginning May 31, the resort will open its doors to select groups, marking the start of internal testing ahead of the grand opening set for July 5. Poised to become the largest Legoland theme park in the world, this new attraction is expected to draw families and Lego enthusiasts from across the globe.

As part of this final pre-opening phase, a group of lucky visitors—including holders of the highly coveted "1st-to-Play" annual passes and "1st-to-Stay" hotel packages—will be among the first to experience the park's attractions. This exclusive preview gives guests early access to themed rides, dining experiences, retail shops, performances, and hotel amenities, while simultaneously allowing staff to conduct comprehensive facility tests and fine-tune the guest experience before the wider public opening.

Among the highlights is the world’s inaugural Big Lego Coaster, an attraction that promises high-flying thrills as riders twist and turn amidst oversized Lego Minifigures. Another standout feature is the impressive 60-meter Legoland Observation Tower, offering panoramic vistas that showcase the sprawling resort grounds and the intricate Lego landscapes crafted throughout the park.

At the heart of Legoland Shanghai lies Miniland, a beloved Legoland staple, now reimagined with painstaking Lego recreations of renowned world landmarks. Guests can explore dazzling replicas and embark on a thematic boat journey through celebrated Chinese cities and monuments, all constructed from millions of colorful bricks.

Making its global debut is "Shanghai Dreamscapes", an original interactive show exclusive to this resort. Audiences are guided by "Brick Suit Girl," an acclaimed Lego builder, as the performance weaves through the story of Shanghai’s transformation, celebrating its journey from ancient alleyways to its present-day life as a dynamic international metropolis.

Another major entertainment highlight is the world premiere of the "Lego Monkie Kid" live show. Featuring a talented cast of 13 puppeteers and an imposing 3.7-meter Bull Demon King puppet, the production combines large-scale stage effects and cutting-edge projection technology for an unforgettable theatrical adventure.

Located adjacent to the vibrant park, the Legoland Hotel continues the immersive adventure for families. The hotel features themed play areas, interactive Lego installations, and daily children’s entertainment to ensure that the creative spirit of Legoland extends beyond the theme park gates.

The Legoland Shanghai Resort is designed specifically for families with children aged 2 to 12 and boasts eight unique themed zones, encompassing over 75 interactive attractions, rides, and live performances. Throughout the resort, more than 85 million Lego bricks have been used to create thousands of spectacular models, cementing the destination’s place as a new icon of creativity and family fun. As the countdown to the official opening continues, excitement is building for what promises to be a landmark addition to the tourism landscape in Shanghai.
