Legoland Shanghai Resort Set to Open Soon: Exciting New Family Destination in China

Excitement is building in China as Legoland Shanghai Resort prepares to open its gates for the first time this summer. The much-anticipated theme park, located in Shanghai's Jinshan District, is now in the final phase of construction and operational testing, with developers confirming that all core components are nearing completion ahead of the official launch. The resort is slated to begin trial operations in June, followed by a grand public opening in July.

The arrival of Legoland Shanghai marks China’s debut for the globally popular family entertainment brand. The resort boasts 24 state-of-the-art rides, all currently undergoing rigorous testing and commissioning to ensure a smooth and thrilling experience for future visitors. At the heart of the park, the Legoland Hotel has finished construction and is entering its operational phase, ready to welcome guests with themed accommodations and immersive experiences.

One of the main highlights is Miniland, a sprawling exhibition painstakingly constructed from over 36 million Lego bricks. This signature attraction is already more than 90 percent complete and promises to wow guests with intricate recreations of world-famous landmarks, historical sites, and natural wonders. Each model is designed not only to be visually stunning but also interactive, encouraging guests to explore and discover hidden details.

Anticipation is especially high for the global premiere of the “Lego Monkie Kid” live show. This exclusive performance brings Chinese mythology to life through the talents of 13 professional puppeteers and the use of cutting-edge stage technology, including a giant 3.7-meter Bull Demon King puppet and dynamic projection effects. With elaborate props and an action-packed storyline, the production is expected to be a centerpiece of the park’s live entertainment offerings.

Daily programming at Legoland Shanghai Resort will feature 22 character meet-and-greets, 11 themed performances and special events, alongside continuous screenings of Lego films in a dedicated 4D cinema. These attractions are designed to provide non-stop excitement for families and Lego enthusiasts of all ages, ensuring there is always something new to see and do throughout the day.

For those eager to be among the first to experience the magic, limited “1st-to-Play” annual passes and “1st-to-Stay” hotel packages will be released for purchase on May 7 at 10 a.m. These special offers grant early access to the resort during its soft opening period, providing die-hard fans with the opportunity to explore the park before the official public opening.

Spanning eight distinct themed lands, Legoland Shanghai Resort is specifically designed for families with children aged 2 to 12. The park will offer more than 75 interactive rides, shows, and attractions, with thousands of impressive Lego models constructed from an astonishing 85 million bricks. As anticipation mounts, the opening of Legoland’s first-ever park in mainland China is poised to become one of the country’s most significant entertainment milestones of the year.
