Legoland Shanghai Resort Set to Open Soon: Exciting New Theme Park Experience in China

Eager anticipation is building in eastern China as Legoland Shanghai Resort approaches its much-awaited debut. The park, poised to become China’s first Legoland theme park, has entered its final phase of development. With trial operations slated for June and a grand public opening expected in July, finishing touches are being made across the sprawling complex.

Officials confirmed that all 24 core rides have been installed and are currently undergoing rigorous testing and commissioning to ensure the highest safety and entertainment standards. The adjacent Legoland Hotel has been fully constructed and handed over for operational preparations, promising a uniquely themed accommodation experience for families and visitors from around the country.

The centerpiece of the resort, Miniland, is nearing completion. This visually stunning attraction, built with more than 36 million Lego bricks, recreates iconic global landmarks, historic sites, and breathtaking natural wonders on a miniature scale. Over 90 percent finished, Miniland is expected to be a highlight for guests of all ages when doors officially open.

Adding to the excitement, the resort will host the world premiere of the "Lego Monkie Kid" live show. The production features a talented cast of 13 puppeteers who bring to life a colossal 3.7-meter Bull Demon King puppet, supported by cutting-edge projection effects and elaborate stage props, offering guests an immersive storytelling spectacle. Rehearsals for the show are in full swing as performers prepare for opening day.

Upon launch, Legoland Shanghai Resort will offer a dynamic entertainment lineup, including 22 character meet-and-greets, 11 themed performances and events every day, and continuous Lego film screenings in its dedicated 4D cinema. These experiences are designed to provide interactive fun and magical moments for children and their families.

For eager fans, the resort has announced the release of exclusive “1st-to-Play” annual passes and “1st-to-Stay” hotel staycation packages, available for purchase at 10 a.m. on May 7. These limited offerings grant privileged access during the trial opening period, giving ticket holders a head start on experiencing the newest addition to Shanghai’s entertainment landscape.

Targeted primarily at families with children aged 2 to 12, Legoland Shanghai Resort stretches across eight vibrant themed lands. Guests can explore more than 75 interactive rides, shows, and attractions, along with thousands of meticulously crafted LEGO models comprised of over 85 million bricks. The park aims to set a new benchmark for family-oriented recreation and creative play in China’s booming tourism sector.
