Legoland Shanghai Resort Set to Open Soon: Exciting New Theme Park in China
China's first Legoland Shanghai Resort gears up for July opening after June trial runs, marking a new milestone in theme park entertainment.

Excitement is mounting across China as the nation’s first Legoland theme park prepares to throw open its doors in Shanghai this summer. The highly anticipated Legoland Shanghai Resort has entered its final stage of construction, with major rides undergoing rigorous testing and the resort’s hotel fully completed and readied for guests. Trial operations are scheduled to begin in June, paving the way for a grand public opening in July.
The sprawling resort will feature 24 core rides, each now in the crucial commissioning phase to ensure safety and a seamless experience for visitors. The Legoland Hotel, a centerpiece of the project, has finished construction and recently transitioned into operational management, signaling the rapid pace at which the park is approaching its debut.
Among the park’s signature attractions is Miniland, an awe-inspiring display that is already more than 90 percent complete. This miniature world is constructed using over 36 million Lego bricks, painstakingly assembled to recreate iconic landmarks, historical monuments, and breathtaking natural wonders from every corner of the globe. Miniland promises to offer both local and international guests a unique perspective on world culture through the lens of creative play.
Adding to the excitement is the world premiere of the "Lego Monkie Kid" live show, currently in the final stages of rehearsal. This spectacular production boasts 13 professional puppeteers and features a remarkable 3.7-meter-tall Bull Demon King puppet, brought to life by cutting-edge projection effects and enormous stage props. The show is expected to be a headline attraction, merging traditional storytelling with innovative technology.
When the park opens, families can expect 22 character meet-and-greets, 11 themed performances and special events daily, and continuous screenings of Lego films in the state-of-the-art 4D cinema. These offerings underscore the resort’s ambition to become a top destination for families, providing immersive entertainment for children and adults alike.
For those eager to be among the first to experience the magic, Legoland Shanghai Resort will release limited “1st-to-Play” annual passes and “1st-to-Stay” hotel staycation packages, both granting access during the exclusive trial operation period. Sales for these coveted packages will commence at 10 a.m. on May 7, likely attracting strong demand from fans across the region.
Designed especially for families with young children—aged two to twelve—the resort spans eight themed lands and boasts over 75 interactive rides, shows, and attractions. In total, more than 85 million Lego bricks have been used to bring thousands of dazzling Lego models to life, underlining the stunning scale and attention to detail that visitors can expect when Legoland Shanghai Resort becomes the latest addition to the city’s vibrant tourism landscape.
