Authorities are urgently seeking the public’s assistance in locating Tony Lopez-Infante, 32, a Venezuelan national, who is suspected of being involved in a serious hit-and-run incident in Nashville on May 18. The crash left Zach Carach, a 21-year-old Florida resident, with severe injuries while he was celebrating his birthday.

Detectives say Lopez-Infante entered the United States in August 2023 and is currently in the country illegally, according to confirmation from immigration officials. He now faces a final order of removal. Investigators allege that after striking Carach with his vehicle, Lopez-Infante fled the scene without providing aid. The vehicle, a Mitsubishi Mirage with noticeable front-end damage, was reportedly returned by Lopez-Infante to a Mt. Juliet rental facility the following day.

The aftermath of the collision has left Carach hospitalized for over two weeks, and his mother, Sheena Carach, shared that her son remains wheelchair-bound for at least the next two months. Through a heartfelt public plea, she asked for answers regarding how Lopez-Infante was able to remain in the country despite his immigration status. “I appeal to the American people to help us find Tony Gebian Lopez Infante (Tony Lopez), he hit our son…and fled...,” she posted on social media, describing how Lopez-Infante allegedly tried to bribe a mechanic for vehicle repairs before disappearing.

Lopez-Infante is described by law enforcement as having six outstanding warrants, including a probation violation related to a theft arrest in Williamson County. Authorities have obtained warrants for his involvement in the hit-and-run, citing charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, failure to render aid or file an accident report, attempted evidence tampering, and driving without a license or insurance.

Efforts to locate Lopez-Infante have so far proven unsuccessful, despite ongoing investigations and cooperation with federal agencies such as Homeland Security Investigations. Detectives urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463, and a reward is being offered for tips leading to his apprehension.

The case has sparked calls for justice from both local officials and community members, who express concern over public safety and enforcement of immigration laws. As the search continues, Zach Carach’s family, along with law enforcement, are hoping that public awareness will be instrumental in helping bring the suspect to justice.
