A landlord from Markham has been charged following a reported sexual assault incident that occurred at a condominium last month, according to York Regional Police.
Authorities stated the incident took place on May 5, when the victim arranged to meet with the accused at a condo located near Water Walk Drive and Rougeside Promenade. The purpose of the visit was to return a key to the unit.
While inside the condominium, it is alleged that the suspect touched the victim in a sexual manner and attempted to prevent them from leaving the premises. Despite the ordeal, the victim was able to escape the unit without sustaining any physical injuries, police reported.
Following an investigation, police arrested Renkai Rex Kevin Lin, 47, of Toronto, on May 22. He now faces charges of sexual assault and forcible confinement.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have information related to this incident to come forward. They emphasize the importance of community assistance in helping to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
