A Mississauga man is facing multiple charges after a woman who was hired to provide cleaning services at his residence reported being sexually assaulted and threatened. According to police, the incident occurred on May 6, when the woman arrived at the suspect’s home after being contacted through an online platform commonly used to connect service providers with clients.

Authorities allege that during her visit, the woman was subjected to a sexual assault by the resident. She was also reportedly threatened, heightening the seriousness of the situation. The allegations have raised concerns about the safety of gig-economy workers who regularly enter private homes as part of their employment.

Following an investigation, police arrested Ravinder Dhaliwhal, 27, of Mississauga, on May 7. The charges laid against Dhaliwhal include assault, sexual assault, sexual assault – strangle, forcible confinement, and uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm. These charges underscore the gravity of the alleged offences and reflect the range of criminal behavior police say occurred during the incident.

Investigators are urging anyone with information related to this case, or who may have had similar experiences, to come forward. They stress that the safety of all individuals providing services in the community is of utmost importance, and that support is available for victims of violence and assault. The accused remains in custody pending a court appearance.
