Navy Sailor Vanishes Without a Trace Amid Mother's Concerns Over Disrupted Daily Routine

Authorities in Virginia are conducting an urgent search for Angelina Petra Resendiz, a 21-year-old Navy sailor who has been missing since the evening of May 29. The last reported sighting of Resendiz was around 10 p.m. at Miller Hall, located on Naval Station Norfolk. Virginia State Police emphasized the critical nature of her disappearance and have expressed concern for her wellbeing, indicating that her health could be at serious risk.

Resendiz, originally from Texas, serves as a culinary specialist with the U.S. Navy. Her mother, Esmeralda Castle, described her daughter as “loving” and “kind,” noting that it is entirely out of character for Angelina not to keep in touch with her family. Family members became increasingly worried when Resendiz failed to answer calls or respond to texts, something she reportedly never does. “She disappeared,” Castle said, adding, “It’s very hard to tell people that she’s missing.”

The sense of alarm grew after family realized that Resendiz had also broken her 400-day streak on Snapchat with her sister—an unbroken record that highlights her regular communication and close relationships. “Every single day she talks to somebody. She talks to family, or she will talk to a friend,” Castle shared. Authorities confirmed that Resendiz does not own a vehicle and was reported missing after failing to show up for work duties at the base.

Resendiz is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing around 110 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
