Oshawa Police Release New Images of Suspect Wanted in Attempted Stabbing Incident

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) have released new images in connection with a chilling incident that took place on June 1 in north Oshawa. According to authorities, an unprovoked and seemingly random stabbing attempt was reported late Sunday night in the vicinity of Steeplechase Street and Windfields Farm Drive East, close to a popular intersection at Simcoe Street North and Winchester Road East.

Police say the incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. when a man, described as walking westbound along Danzatore Path, came across two pedestrians heading east. As the individuals passed each other, the suspect is alleged to have suddenly produced a knife and attempted to stab one of the victims. According to officers, “as they passed each other, the man pulled out a knife and tried to stab one of them.”

In a swift response, the suspect immediately fled the scene before police arrived. Despite a rapid search involving both officers and the K9 Unit, the suspect remains at large. Fortunately, the individuals targeted in the attack were not physically injured during the frightening ordeal.

Investigators are still working to determine a motive behind the attack, emphasizing that the motive remains under investigation and details about what led to the incident have yet to be uncovered. Police are urging anyone in the area who may have surveillance or dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

In hopes of garnering further leads, the DRPS has now shared newly released images of the suspect and is appealing to the public for help in identifying the individual involved. Community members are urged to remain vigilant while the search for the suspect continues.
