Police Investigate Indecent Act by Man Approaching Youths in Newmarket Park Wooded Area

York Regional Police are actively searching for a suspect after an alarming incident involving two youths in Newmarket last Friday evening. According to authorities, the incident took place in a wooded section of Ken Sturgeon Park, located near Lockwood Circle and Damascus Court, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on June 6.

The two youths were reportedly playing in the forested area when they were approached by a man who allegedly committed an indecent act while exposing himself. The incident left the youths startled, prompting them to leave the scene immediately and report the encounter to police.

Investigators have described the suspect as a west Asian male, aged between 25 and 30 years old, with a slim build and dark hair. At the time of the incident, he was observed wearing a white T-shirt and grey shorts.

"Anyone who was in the park at the time and witnessed the incident or has any information is urged to come forward," police stated in an appeal to the public. Authorities are asking residents and park visitors to check any personal surveillance footage and to contact police with tips or observations that could assist in identifying the suspect.

The safety of local parks remains a priority for law enforcement, and police are increasing patrols in the area as the investigation continues. Parents and guardians are reminded to speak with their children about safety measures and to report any suspicious activity around public recreational spaces.
