Premier Li Announces China to Expand Economic and Trade Cooperation with Cambodia
Chinese Premier Li Qiang vows to strengthen trade and investment ties with Cambodia to boost economic cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed on Tuesday China’s commitment to deepening economic and trade ties with Cambodia, emphasizing the importance of liberalization and facilitation in trade and investment. The announcement came during his meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on the sidelines of the ASEAN-China-GCC Summit, underlining the determination of both nations to further expand their robust cooperation.
Premier Li highlighted the significance of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to Cambodia, describing it as a historic milestone that strengthened the foundation for an “all-weather” China-Cambodia community with a shared future. According to Li, the enduring friendship between the two countries now stands as a leading example in efforts to build a broader community with a shared future for humanity. He called for sustained efforts from both sides to implement the outcomes of President Xi’s visit through increased high-level exchanges and deeper political trust.
Li urged the two countries to make full use of collaborative frameworks such as the China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee in order to ensure steady progress in practical cooperation across multiple sectors. He stressed that amid growing global uncertainty, the certainty and stability offered by the China-Cambodia partnership are all the more valuable. By jointly promoting economic development, both countries aim to safeguard their common interests against external challenges.
The premier also reiterated China’s readiness to accelerate the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy, speeding up key projects including the Industrial Development Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor. Li noted the potential for new areas of growth, expressing support for increased Chinese enterprise investment and expanded cooperation in infrastructure, digital economy, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy.
On the issue of security, Li commended recent progress in joint efforts to combat cross-border crimes but emphasized the need for stronger measures to ensure the safety of both peoples. He further noted the turbulence in the current international environment and urged solidarity among regional countries to resist unilateralism and power politics, uphold multilateralism, and maintain open and stable supply chains.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet echoed these sentiments, praising President Xi’s visit as a new milestone in bilateral relations. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s unwavering adherence to the one-China policy and its support for China’s positions on core issues including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Xizang. Hun Manet expressed Cambodia’s readiness to deliver on agreements reached during the presidential visit, enhance dialogue mechanisms, bolster people-to-people ties, and intensify joint action against cross-border crimes.
The Cambodian leader also voiced support for President Xi’s three major global initiatives, expressing confidence in stronger multilateral coordination with China to promote regional security, counter protectionism, and drive shared global development.
