President Xi Jinping Celebrates Fudan University's 120th Anniversary with Congratulatory Message
President Xi Jinping congratulates Fudan University on its 120th anniversary, celebrating its longstanding contributions to education and innovation.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his congratulations to Fudan University on the occasion of its 120th founding anniversary. In a letter sent on Monday, Xi praised the university’s achievements and lauded its contributions to national development, emphasizing its significant role in both China’s progress and the advancement of the Chinese nation.
Xi Jinping, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, addressed his message to the faculty, students, and alumni of Fudan University. He recognized the institution's historic evolution over more than a century, highlighting its commitment to patriotism, academic excellence, and innovation.
"Over the past 120 years, Fudan University has kept pace with the times, developed a glorious tradition of patriotism and a fine academic ethos, nurtured numerous outstanding talents, produced many original achievements, and played a positive role in China's development as well as in the progress of the Chinese nation," Xi stated in his letter.
Looking ahead, President Xi expressed hope that Fudan University would continue to play a leading role in the educational and scientific spheres. He called on the university to remain steadfast in applying the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its guiding principle for nurturing new generations of talent.
Xi emphasized the importance of deepening reforms in both education and scientific research. He urged the university to foster "a virtuous cycle of independent technological innovation and independent cultivation of talent," while also driving further growth in philosophy and social sciences.
Additionally, Xi encouraged Fudan University to enhance its capacity to support major national strategies and regional economic and social development. By doing so, he said, the institution can continue to make lasting contributions to building a strong nation and advancing the broader goal of Chinese modernization.
