Senior CPC Official Holds High-Level Meeting with Vietnam's Chief Justice to Strengthen Bilateral Judicial Cooperation

Chen Wenqing, a prominent figure within the Communist Party of China (CPC) and current head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, held a meeting on Friday with Le Minh Tri, the chief justice of Vietnam's Supreme People's Court. The discussions took place against the backdrop of strengthening ties between the two neighboring countries, both of which regard their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership as a cornerstone of regional stability and development.

During the meeting, Chen Wenqing emphasized the critical importance of implementing the agreements and strategic consensus previously reached by the top leaders of China and Vietnam. He highlighted that these agreements provide a clear direction for the future development of bilateral relations. Chen called on both sides to enhance their communication mechanisms, open up new avenues for cooperation, and reinforce judicial assistance. He underlined the need for greater collaboration in tackling transnational crime and improving the effectiveness of resolving cross-border disputes—a growing concern in both countries' rapidly integrating economies.

"It is hoped that both sides earnestly implement the important consensus reached between the top leaders of the two countries and parties," Chen stated. He urged for practical steps to broaden cooperation channels, strengthen judicial partnerships, and boost the overall quality and efficiency of joint efforts in law enforcement and judiciary matters. According to Chen, these actions would not only facilitate smoother cross-border interactions but also contribute significantly to safeguarding the rights and interests of the peoples of China and Vietnam.

Le Minh Tri responded by expressing Vietnam's strong commitment to deepening exchanges and enhancing cooperation with China in the judicial field. The Vietnamese chief justice echoed Chen’s sentiments, stating that his country is ready to work closely with its northern neighbor to share experiences, align legal practices, and build a more robust framework for legal collaboration. This approach, he said, would lay a solid foundation for addressing shared challenges such as cross-border crime and legal disputes that arise in the context of increased economic and social exchanges.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their dedication to furthering judicial cooperation as a key pillar of the China-Vietnam relationship. Observers note that the renewed focus on legal collaboration could mark significant progress in the resolution of longstanding issues and contribute to greater stability and prosperity in the region.
