Toronto man charged with multiple offences after violent flag theft outside Eaton Centre.

A Toronto man has been charged with several serious offences following a violent incident involving the theft of an Israeli flag in the downtown core over the weekend. The altercation unfolded on Sunday just outside the Eaton Centre, near the busy intersection of Yonge Street and Dundas Street East.
According to authorities, the episode began when an individual was displaying an Israeli flag at the bustling location. The situation escalated rapidly as a man allegedly approached, assaulted the flag-bearer, and attempted to seize the flag by force. During the confrontation, the suspect is said to have brandished an unspecified weapon, heightening the danger and drawing the attention of a passerby who intervened to assist the victim.
Toronto police officers responded quickly to reports of the incident, arriving at the scene to secure the area and take the suspect into custody without further incident. The man arrested has been identified as 65-year-old A-Ian Clarke of Toronto.
Clarke now faces a total of four charges: robbery with violence, attempting to commit an indictable offence, carrying a concealed weapon, and possessing a dangerous weapon with the intent to harm. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday to answer to these charges.
Authorities confirmed that the victim sustained minor injuries during the assault but did not require hospitalization. The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercation and are reviewing any available surveillance footage from the busy downtown area.
