Toronto Police Seek Man Suspected of Threatening to Shoot Random Victim on Street
Toronto police hunt suspect who threatened a passerby with what appeared to be a firearm in North York.
Authorities are actively searching for a suspect involved in a frightening incident in North York, where a man allegedly brandished a firearm and threatened a passerby earlier this week.
According to Toronto Police, officers responded quickly to the area of St. Dennis Drive and Deauville Lane, not far from Don Mills Road, at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday after receiving reports of a potential firearm offense. Police say that a man on the street approached a stranger and initiated a seemingly ordinary conversation before the situation escalated.
During the encounter, the suspect is reported to have revealed what appeared to be a gun tucked into his waistband. He then issued a direct threat, telling the victim he would shoot them, according to police accounts. After the alleged threat, the suspect immediately fled the scene, heading northbound on Deauville Lane on foot.
Officers have shared a detailed description of the individual they are searching for: the suspect is said to be a male, aged between 20 and 25 years old, standing approximately five feet eight inches tall with a medium build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black facemask, a black sweater, blue or black pants, and black shoes.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has security footage from the nearby area, or can provide additional information to come forward and assist with the search.
Residents in the North York neighborhood are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, as authorities continue their efforts to locate the suspect and ensure public safety.
