Xi Jinping Congratulates Chinese Young Pioneers on 9th National Congress

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to the ninth national congress of the Chinese Young Pioneers (CYP), emphasizing the organization’s vital role in nurturing the next generation. The event, which opened on Tuesday in Beijing, draws national attention as it brings together thousands of young delegates from across China.

In his message, Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the fundamental responsibility of the CYP to follow the Party's guidance and to help cultivate qualified young builders for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He described the youth as the "future force" in building a prosperous nation and achieving the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

As International Children’s Day approaches, Xi extended his greetings to children nationwide, underlining the importance of their well-being and development. He called on the CYP to guide its members in becoming exemplary young people of the new era—individuals who are devoted to their country, diligent in their studies, and well-rounded in character.

Xi also urged the creation of a favorable environment for children’s healthy growth, stressing that supporting young people’s development is crucial to the nation’s future. This sentiment resonated throughout the opening ceremony, attended by around 3,000 participants.

The congress was marked by the presence of senior CPC leaders, including Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee. During the event, Shi Taifeng, another high-ranking official, read Xi’s letter aloud and delivered a speech on behalf of the CPC Central Committee. Shi encouraged CYP members to keep Xi’s instructions in their hearts and to be ready to contribute to the grand cause of building a strong country and revitalizing the Chinese nation.

The convening of the ninth national congress underscores the government’s commitment to supporting and guiding the younger generation, with a focus on fostering patriotism, integrity, and a spirit of service among Chinese youth.
