Xi Jinping Congratulates Chinese Young Pioneers on 9th National Congress Celebration

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his congratulations to the ninth national congress of the Chinese Young Pioneers (CYP), which commenced in Beijing on Tuesday. The CYP is a prominent youth organization aimed at fostering patriotism and personal development among school-aged children across China.

In his letter, Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of the CYP aligning its mission with that of the Party. He stated that the organization should serve as a guiding force in cultivating "qualified builders" for the ongoing development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Xi’s message comes just days ahead of International Children's Day. He took the opportunity to send his greetings to children throughout the nation, underscoring their role as the future driving force in establishing a strong China and achieving national rejuvenation. According to Xi, the younger generation must be educated in line with Party values and guided to become exemplary citizens of the new era—marked by a love for the Party and the country, academic diligence, and well-rounded personal development.

Calling for a supportive environment for children’s healthy growth, Xi reiterated the need for the CYP and society at large to foster conditions that enable young people to thrive in all aspects of life.

The opening session of the congress was attended by high-ranking Party officials, including Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. During the event, Shi Taifeng, also a Political Bureau member and chief of the CPC Central Committee's Organization Department, read out Xi’s letter and addressed the participants on behalf of the Central Committee. Shi encouraged CYP members to keep Xi’s guidance in mind and to prepare themselves for contributing to the nation’s development and revitalization.

The congress gathered an estimated 3,000 attendees, consisting of representatives from across the country, highlighting the organization’s broad reach and influence in promoting the values and aspirations set forth by the CPC leadership.
