Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulates the ninth national congress of the Chinese Young Pioneers in Beijing.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his congratulations to the ninth national congress of the Chinese Young Pioneers (CYP), which commenced in Beijing on Tuesday. The CYP, a mass youth organization for children across China, is holding its quinquennial event to chart the organization’s direction and celebrate the role of youth in the nation’s development.
In his congratulatory letter, President Xi—who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission—emphasized the importance of the CYP following the Party’s leadership. He highlighted that the organization should focus on cultivating qualified builders and successors for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, underscoring the pivotal role that young people play in the country’s future.
With International Children’s Day drawing near, Xi sent warm greetings to children nationwide, describing them as the “future force” behind efforts to build a strong nation and achieve national rejuvenation. He called on the CYP to inspire its members to become model young citizens who demonstrate love for their Party and country, diligence in their studies, and strive for well-rounded personal development.
Xi also urged all sectors of society to create a favorable environment that supports the healthy growth of children, calling for stronger investments in education and youth services. His remarks reflect the high priority placed on youth development as a cornerstone for China's long-term social and economic goals.
The opening meeting of the congress was attended by Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat, highlighting the event’s significance at the highest political level. Shi Taifeng, another senior CPC official and head of the CPC Central Committee’s Organization Department, read Xi’s letter to the delegates and delivered a keynote speech. Shi encouraged CYP members to internalize Xi’s teachings and remain prepared to contribute actively to the country’s modernization and revitalization efforts.
This year’s congress brought together approximately 3,000 participants, including young delegates, educators, and officials from across China, to discuss strategies for nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators. The event marks a significant occasion in China’s ongoing endeavor to invest in its youth and ensure a bright and dynamic future for the nation.
